Jim is a Realtor®, a member of several local civic organizations and a organizing member of the SC Upstate Equine Council. He enjoyed competing in Equestrian events but is now satisfied to volunteer. Jim describes himself as a “gentleman farmer” who lives on a modest horse farm with his wife Julie and enjoys the natural beauty that only rural living can provide.

“I have seen a change over several years in the type of person who is moving to our area; they seem to be more “lifestyle” oriented. The Upstate is attracting more out-of-state residents and investors who recognize that competitive land prices, lower taxes and mild Winters provide many affordable lifestyle choices in the "Lake and Mountain Country" of SC. I expect this trend to continue for years to come given the rapid urbanization of nearby areas in Georgia and the Carolinas.”

"Everyone wanted to sell us a house...not a lifestyle"

Jim has been a licensed SC Real Estate Broker for over 30 yrs. beginning his career marketing commercial and investment property in Columbia, SC. To make ends meet when the market took a downturn in the ‘70’s Jim took a part time job in sales that resulted in opening his own marketing company. Closing his business after 25 years, Jim has returned to the real estate profession to assist people in pursuing their dream, just like he and his wife did several years ago.

“When my wife and I moved to the Upstate of SC we had a difficult time finding someone to help us find a property suitable for our horses. Everyone wanted to sell us a house but no one would sell us a “lifestyle”. I told myself if I ever got back into real estate it would be doing something I enjoy; and that something is - assisting people trying to find a rural lifestyle.”
